One of the easiest ways to start a balcony garden is to get a large freestanding container, window planter, or railing planter. You can start simple with your garden balcony even with just a few containers to hang on the railing.
Potted Perfection
You could also use multiple pots in various sizes for your balcony garden. Group pots together to create pleasant greenery displays, use plant stands, or line them up along a wall or railing to surround yourself with color. Different colors and styles of pots can do a lot to deliver a more colorful experience for your garden. You can do whatever you want with your pots. There are no rules! It is, after all, your balcony and your garden.
Balcony Blooms
If there is a favorite flower or color in mind, you can use those as the basis for which plants you want to put in pots or containers on your balcony. For instance, something like a rose garden. A lot of varieties of roses work well in pots and containers and can produce gorgeous blooms all season.
Go Vertical
Should your balcony be small in size, you can still make good use of the vertical space by creating a garden oasis. Hanging planters are a terrific way to add color and greenery at eye level. Or, invest in some tiered plant stands to create a multi-level display for your garden plants.
Make Watering a Snap
How you prepare your balcony garden is important, but you’ll need a good plan to keep your plants growing by watering them regularly. If your garden has a lot of plants, maybe spending on a large watering can or even a simple drip system is a good idea. This will definitely make watering your plants more efficient and effective.
Add Extra Shade
If yours is a sunny balcony, you should add extra shade for plants that wilt under extreme heat. All plants need sunshine to thrive, but too much sun can burn foliage and even kill young plants. Think of adding a lattice or sunshade to keep your balcony garden cool during the hottest part of the day.
